After Reading Managing Fisheries
In a small group of 2-3 students (from your reading group) read and discuss the following statement:

By the early 1980s, with dwindling inshore stocks and too many boats, the New Zealand fishing industry and the government realised that a new fisheries management was needed. The warning that ‘too many boats are chasing too few fish’ was being rephrased by one fisherman as, ‘too many boats chasing no fish.’

Use these questions to guide you and record your answers on a doc. LEARN
  1. Are there too many boats? Yes Because they want to go to the sea and fish for more
  2. Why are there 'no fish'?Because the fisherman catches a lot of fish.
  3. What is or should be done about it? The should catch it but instead of eating it they should release it.

In your small group discuss and individually record your opinions on:  LEARN
  1. What is a Quota?A limited or fixed number or amount of people or things, in particular
  2. Why the Quota Management System was needed?Released the new fisheries management was needed.
  3. How it was implemented.They should only catch a few of fish and only catch 7 fish.
  4. Who polices it?Its a Managing Fisheries Police.  
  5. How are commercial quota is different from recreational quotas recreational quotas can’t sell their fish but commercial quotas can sell their fish.

Math

Today I have learnt how to multiply by reversing the numbers to get the answer. Like For an example 5x4= and if you don't know your five times table you reverse to 4x5=20 and you will get the answer.
